Hair laser removal—should you do it at home? Should you do it at all? These are questions that many people consider when they start looking into hair laser removal, especially when trying to figure out which device is right for them. That all sounds good on paper, but we’re all looking for results. Previously, I’ve tried the more inexpensive Silk’n Flash&Go with no successful results to show for it. So, I was eager to see if the Tria Hair Removal Laser 4X would actually work. And, lets face it, when you shell out $450 for a beauty gadget, results are mandatory. Fortunately, Tria does offer a 90-day money-back guarantee, and although substantial results will likely only start to show up after two to three treatments, 90 days should be long enough for most people to decide if the device is worth the investment.
Unboxing
One thing we have noticed right off the bat with the Tria Laser 4X is that its build quality is a lot better than that of the Silk’n Flash&Go. The LED display makes it easy to operate the device. We appreciate that it is battery powered and can last up to 30 minutes on a single charge. This way, you don’t have to be tethered to a wall outlet when you’re operating the device. The LED display also sports a handy battery indicator. On a side note, we appreciate the fact that it’s available in a choice of five colors—not that that is a necessity, but color choices are always welcome. Might as well have something nice to look at while you’re engaged in the exhilarating ride that is hair removal, right?
Treatments
For our first treatment, we set the treatment level at the fourth comfort level. Tria warns that the higher the level you use on the Tria Laser, the more discomfort you will likely feel. Fortunately, the discomfort / pain level was not bad at all to me, but this could be because I’m already used to the Silk’n Flash&Go’s similar treatments. Either way, let’s just say it beats waxing by a pretty fair margin.
